Constructions
Pamela Kostmayer’s sculptural constructions are made with Dade County Pine salvaged out of Conch houses in Key West, Florida. This wood has been seasoned by time, and decorated down the years by hard weather, salt air, hot winds and the rich floral environment of the Florida Keys. Nature has done its work on this wood, which is all the more gorgeous as a result, with colors that are bold, subtle, original and built into the grain. Pamela cuts and shapes the wood to form her constructions, which are rigorous in design, disciplined by precision, and liberated by the forces of modernism even as they draw strength from an ancient tradition of enchantment and surprise.
