Encaustic Collage

Pamela Kostmayer employs an ancient technique to create contemporary works that fully embrace the spirit of experiment and discovery. Encaustic is hot wax that Pamela uses to adhere brightly colored paper, screen, a variety of small objects and hand drawn designs to wood cradleboards in an abstract pattern. Each collage is constructed with a range of colors -- from neutral through a cascade of blues, greens, yellows, reds, black and white. As a final touch, Pamela applies vintage wood and metal pieces to embellish the work and bring it to a fine finish.
